Accessing Internet by using cable modem is amongst the latest technological advancements in the area of networking. The cable networks have a wide setup of infrastructure and are commonly used for distributing television programs.
By using the existing network of cables to offer Internet access, an entirely new paradigm has opened up to achieve Internet access. The cable modems that are used in cable networks offer line speeds of 300 kilobytes per second and more than that for internet access; they also distribute TV programs. By launching voice over cable networks (VoCable), new challenges like security and quality of service are certainly introduced, but the idea is certainly more than promising to say the least. PC Memoirs is back! Read on if you are interested in finding out how PC Memoirs disappeared and came back from the dead. It might help some other imountain customers who lost their websites without warning.
Sometime in February 2013 my blog went offline and it didn’t come back. At first I thought, it’s just a temporary thing – probably some problem at imountain hosting. Unfortunately, it wasn’t. My blog simply disappeared from the Internet! When I tried to open the imountain website, I began to worry – because it wasn’t there either. I really should have seen the signs, because my blog was offline frequently in the weeks prior to this, and support requests were not answered. I should have created a backup and moved my blog to another service immediately; but instead, I waited. Big mistake!
All the good things imountain did for their clients was undone by this one action: they simply turned off their servers! No warning and no time for clients to do something about it. You could argue it’s my own fault, because I didn’t create a backup of my site. Well, it’s true! I was disappointed and angry. I lost all my files, and a little bit of income.

Welcome back dear readers!
After the fiasco with my previous hosting company imountain.com and almost losing my blog, PC Memoirs is slowly making a return!
It was quite a strange experience. Can you imagine a hosting company simply cutting the lines and not even informing their clients? I was so angry, but I guess many people lost more than I did. After all, some people live off their blogging income. Not nice, imountain! Luckily I managed to obtain a backup of my files and now I can slowly rebuild my site. My first post will be about how PC Memoirs came back from the dead! It might help some other ex- imountain customers.
Stay tuned – PC Memoirs is coming back – stronger than ever!
