Skylander Giants New Release

Skylanders-Giants-logoFollowing from the enormous success of last year’s Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure video game, Activision have recently leaked the upcoming release of the franchise’s next installment: Skylanders Giants.

The conveniently named Skylanders Giants “builds upon the ground breaking fundamentals of the first game-merging the physical and virtual realms with an innovative line of cross-platform toy figures that have “brains,” which players everywhere can magically bring to life in the world of Skylands,” said Activision. Like the original game title Giants will also feature all new arenas, more gameplay options in Battle Mode, enhanced Elemental Zones, new Hero Challenges, and much more.

Eight new giant Skylanders characters will be released each being more than twice the size of the first edition Skylanders figures, both out of the box and in the game. They will also feature built in lights that illuminate when they’re placed near the Portal of Power. The first of these behemoth characters to be announced are a giant version of Cynder, the dark dragoness and Tree Rex, who bears a passing resemblance to Stump Smash and can only be assumed to be an earth element Skylander.

Additionally, to save parents worldwide from despair and empty wallets, you will not have to buy a new Portal of Power for them, and all of the characters from the original Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure will work with the new video game. This seamless compatibility of upcoming releases is also strengthened with the simultaneous release of eight new regular sized Skylanders introduced with Skylanders Giants.

Available for all major platforms (PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo 3DS and PC) the Skylanders Giants video game and accessories are expected to arrive in stores around Autumn of this year.

However, in order to keep you satisfied until then, Activision are also set to release two new Skylanders Triple Packs in the form of Triple Pack G and Triple Pack H. These packs are a fantastic way to increase your collection with the previously unavailable Lightning Rod, Zook, Camo and Cynder figures as well as the highly sought after Ignitor character. Both triple packs are expected to be released this spring and are currently available for pre-order at GamingZap.com for only £19.95 each.
